Allstate is my fourth company in the insurance industry that I've worked for and I can say with certainty that it may be the worst in terms of career prospects. If I hadn’t gained experience in previous companies, I think I would have a hard time gaining a good professional upgrade here. Here, however, I learned the most about people and what they can be like. Does anyone have a different experience, that they have gained new skills here and/or perfected themselves?

Definitely helped after I left ; training, customer service skills, auto and collision damage training, ICAR certifications and more. 2.5 decades at Allstate is helping in my new career. Allstate loss my gain for new employer, not in the insurance industry anymore. I was a senior employee in my state and pushed out like so many others. New employer reaping benefits, the downside is pay and benefits, will not be matched anytime soon. Close to retirement currently, luckily kids are grown, 2-3 years to fully retire. Such a mental and physical relief to get away from Allstate. I do miss the old Allstate it was a great place to work up to 4-5 years ago.
I think people overreact. Is Allstate the best company to work for ? No. But it's better than a lot of companies. Of course department varies but you get paid 40 or 50 thousand for call center work. That's pretty good to me. There are jobs that are a lot more difficult and pay less. If you find something better of course take it but there are far worse companies in terms of pay and how they treat employees. I mean what company gives 20 days off in addition to the regular 5 holidays?
This varies wildly depending on department and position. Allstate offers incredible experience to a new hire who is in the leadership development program. Most marketing and actuarial positions can be a boost. Not so much in legal but maybe for some paralegal positions.
Aside from a highly increased defense mechanism, more distrust in employers, and a higher dislike for my fellow humans I got absolutely nothing in terms of how to handle my other jobs. If anything Allstate has hurt my attitude, approach, and ability to conform to other companies and jobs.
