Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

'Twas the night before Christmas.....

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the store
Cheap masks out of China, gloves made of latex lay on the floor;
Plexi shields, hand sanitizer, high touch cleaning with care,
In hopes that the Corona virus won't soon be there;

123,000 employees nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of layoffs once again danc'd in their heads;
And Adrian in his visor, and Jeff on his phone,
Determined to make bonus, real estate deals and cuts to the bone;

When out in the market, there arose such a clatter,
The vaccine is here, brick and mortar will once again matter;
Pfizer, Moderna, herd immunity won't be here in a flash,
Expense savings needed, to not burn through cash;

Out the 34th street office windows, Adrian saw down below,
Aging stores in the fleet with little luster in the new fallen snow;
When what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a way to cut $1.5 billion in just one more year;

Jeff with his entourage, so lively and quick,
Have come up with a plan that should do the trick;
Neighborhood stores are first on the list,
Followed by streamlining positions they think won't be missed;

With a wink of an eye and a nod of his head, Adrian knew not to dread,
Jeff and his team have done this before, North Star, Polaris, all in the sled;
After the holidays again we will play,
Who has a chair when the Christmas music goes away;

I think long term management will be axed for a low cost younger person who will probably do a worst job.

As we head into the new year of 2021
The higher ups will announce that alot of people's jobs will be done;
With no remorse and opportunities of new work
All they will say is good luck and bye with a devilish smirk;
Money and greed has taken over the store
Which was once a great place to work but apparently no more.

Great Stuff! Perhaps the OP has lost his/her spot with M, and has no access to inside information? Either way, I love reading them!

Also 123,000 people will be cut seems like. Isn’t that just about everyone? To go to the “ bone “ you would have to nuke half of the staff. That would make it worst Plus it’s not 1.5 billion in cuts they added $630 million to that number. So it’s more like 2.1 billion in one year. That could nuke some stores.

First comment: so streamline cuts and Neighborhood stores are going to close “ cut to the bone. “. So basically no one left in the stores Worst than before. So massive layoffs , store closing, a brick n mortar coming back ? Yeah right. Keep dreaming. Malls are done
