Who wants a fridge delivered at 9 pm? Doesn’t lowes know that drivers have to fallow Federal motor carrier laws? Or is lows exempt?

This is all one result of $15.00/hr minimum wage being passed in some states, and the rest knowing that it will eventually reach them also. If companies are going to be forced to pay all employees this amount regardless of skill set or their job, then companies are going to react by slashing positions, bringing in more automation, and forcing remaining employees to handle much greater workloads and tasks. Lowe’s sees it coming, and is getting out in front of it by drastically reducing employee headcount in their stores.
The days of roll specific retail jobs is over. Companies cut as wages are increased. NYC went to 15 an hour and all of a sudden you see staff reductions. People told they have to juggle multiple tasks or departments. Payroll is the number one expense after inventory.
They want you to have open availability so they can use you for tasks other than driving.
Retail is no longer a viable career. Stores can't compete with Amazon. In store buying is down. The customers that do shop are the ones that are bored. In the company I work for we have pitiful average ticket even though we have high traffic. Smart people avoid store, dumb–ses with no money are the ones shopping.
2cjh+187y47sI is on point in his post. In-house delivery is gradually being phased out company-wide. If you are fortunate enough to still have a delivery position, you seriously either need to be trying to secure another position in the store or seeking other employment. Your days are numbered.
I'm going to tell you something you aren't going to like
- Be glad you have a job in deliveries because the company is slowly phasing it out to 3rd party
- They want you to work until all stops are complete
- If you don't like it find employment elsewhere
it is what it is...
2yow+187y47sI- where did you here that? Any insight
It shouldn’t really matter because Lowes is going to all third-party deliveries anyways
Some delivery drivers have CDL’s and have to have certain amount of times off between shifts and so much consecutive rest time in a week. Try explaining it to the managers they look at you like a deer looking at head lights
sure they're exempt until they get caught.
