Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

If the situation does not change after the holidays ....

it will be too much to bear!

Outside of letting the seasonal help go, I can’t imagine cutting back staff any more than the company already has. Only about 40% of our store’s employees were brought back following the spring furlough. Unless the store returns to 11 am-7pm hours after the holidays, the situation will not be viable. I feel thankful to have a job- but it has been a grind.

OG poster @3fex+184YzyhE. Exactly! I agree completely, but I am not an optimist. They work us to exhaustion and expect us to be grateful for that. I doubt there is any room for optimism that it will get better after the holidays?

Retail depends on “Black Friday”. Black because retailers go in the black on this day. It is the most important day of profits. Period!

Without a massive sales figure the company is doomed. With what I read about dead stores there is no positives about this. Best get looking for work.

Wake up people because being in denial won't cut it!!! You don't want to accept or handle reality or the truth, but that doesn't change anything. WAKE UP IT'S ALMOST OVER.

Associates that make more than $11 hr will be cut. OVS will be cut. And I bet you some long term managers will be cut They have to shed 1.5 billion. By 2022. To survive. That is in one year. They only sold about 7 billion for the entire company so far. You do the math. It’s over. Time to sell the stress pit

I'll let you in on a secret. Mark my words, here's what is going to happen: Store hours will NOT go back to 11-7. Absolutely 1000% never going to happen. But have no fear, Macy's will likely keep a lot of the seasonal hires past January. BUT there is a catch. Macy's will simultaneously lay off tenured colleagues disguised as "restructuring" around February. If they can save a buck by getting rid of the people who make more $ and keeping the people who get paid peanuts, how can they lose? Happy holidays everyone!
