Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

I think I just overheard some IOR LAYOFF news...

Tomorrow is going to be interesting. Layoffs, restructure of teams are coming I overheard from manager and 12% of the company will be let go, mostly in Calgary HQ not the asset level ( do ppl in Calgary even do anything) anyways i'll be here sipping on my pina colada and popcorn. No we are not being sold off though.

What is the Upstream and Downstream split? 50% and 50%, or 70% and 40%. Any guess?

If you're younger employee under 35 even if you get laid off it's not the end of the world as not a bad time to get out of the oil industry to be honest. Learn a new skill , apply outside the sector collect those fat maybe not so fat EI checks for a while and just think positive and look ahead!!

The cuts will logically be mostly upstream and projects either way, so they’ll be focused on Calgary and the sands (more the latter I bet).
