Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

Who is prepared for it?

Anyone feel their store is not prepared to handle the onslaught of customers when Black Friday sales open? In the past we have always tried to prepare for it - but we always fall short. We either don’t have enough employees on shift - or we run out of product on hand. Now with the pandemic, how many think it’s going to be a total circus with trying to assist the customer while trying to social distance - and not to mention the extra “cleaning” we are supposed to do while open?

Why are people still acting like sheep for a BF ? I think this virus is going to get even more cases until people wake up and stop casually mingling with large groups. I swear, if BF has a bunch of people in my store tomorrow, I am convinced that our customers truly are low intelligence.

I had to work Customer Service yesterday with a non-stop long line of customers. Kept calling for individuals to help run out curbside pick ups. Luckily got some help, but got light headed because my sugar level was off and I didn’t get dinner at a decent time because managers didn’t want to come help.

It’s a nightmare. Associates are dropping like flies and management is unsupportive and negligent. I have been preparing for Black Friday week as much as possible with leaders that are just trying to keep the store afloat. Our store has not hired anyone new in weeks and we are running Santa’s Wonderland with one elf and pulling people from their departments to fill in. Customers complain constantly about staffing and HR has not stepped up to the plate. I’ve been working retail for some time now and even retailers that have a bad name ran smoother than our Cabela’s ever will. Without proper leadership, we will fail. I wish you all the best this week.

It's their own fault when they advertise "compare to" and "original price" on their stuff, Every one is totally false without exception, then customers go crazy when the 5 items on hand sells out in five minutes, when it's supposed to last sometimes for two weeks. I'm surprised the sheeple keep coming back for this abuse. Perfect example. Our store has 5 depth finders for Black Fri, they never were $2000, but on sale for the reg price of $997. Amazing.
