Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

TCO lying to employees

It has now been 9 months since our family have not been allowed to return to our home in Kazakhstan. I say to our home, because that is the only home we have anywhere in the world. We are being fed bs about "top priority of keeping employees safe" while company has saved millions on revoked expat premiums. A bunch of empty nesters with holiday homes galore, a leadership team who have the option of boarding their kids or sending them to local private schools are patronizing families who don't have the resources or support network to afford themselves the same arrangement. This morning at the townhall we yet again heard the "we're sorry" and were told that we won't get a chance to come back home till March at the earliest. Something tells me that with the end of school year only few months into the future, this will then conveniently slide into August.
Families with children accepted RESIDENTIAL expat assignments for a reason and had TCO leadership been transparent from the get go would have made appropriate decisions about their families and their careers during the transformation/job application period including EOI.
But hey, MW can pat EB on the back, hand her a big fat bonus check and thank for a job well done on delivering projects on time and at half the cost, while people are too scared to say anything.
Chevron has truly become a company that DRAINS it's Human Energy

OP was right about August, we were just told families' remobilization is on hold till July 31st. Wow, CVX is really good at pissing on our heads and telling us it's raining.

EB secured her promotion and kept her resume spotless, she doesn't care about the pleebs. And it sure was completely safe to bring families without kids back, because it's the kids who are at risk, definitely not those 55+ employees and spouses... Wait... Did I have it backwards?..

You are not alone. Same story in SASBU...being fed lies by mgmt and HR. They simply want to save cash and maintain positive cash by demobing expats indefinitely. Homeless for 10 months...and no end in sight. It is getting really old. But we still have jobs so we are powerless.

I think you are right that it will slip to August and even then, there is no guarantee about what the fall PDC will bring. Make arrangements now for how you want to live in 2021. Maybe finally buy that vacation condo and use it as a home base? The situation s—s for sure but bright side is you are stuck in your home country with great food and great healthcare. I feel for you!

OP, where are you staying currently and who is paying for it? Are you in a hotel room with your family currently?

You missed the point of this guy’s post. He doesn’t have a home. Chevron kicked him/her out of it and he is not going back anytime soon. So his situation is a bit different! Show some empathy!

Average salary for your position (no extra allowances), working from home, juggling childcare/remote learning while working, inconvenienced and confined to your home? It sounds like you are in the same boat as literally every other person in the country right now who doesn't work as a Chevron expat. Oh, except the company pays for your housing and you have the ability to stay home and stay employed. Many don't have that fortune. You seem really disconnected from reality.

I'm sure your husband back in TCO is putting the bedroom furniture to good use with one of the slinky locals. Keep whining, you will probably find yourself kicked to the curb soon enough.

You could go back into Atyrau which still has high rates of Covid 19 but the place in still in virtual lockdown so what would you want to return with family ?

Sounds like you need to fill out a hurt feelings report. Keep complaining they will just replace you with a Kazak

You are graciously given a 2bed furnished apartment or an allowance to rent a property yourself, but the money for accommodation in KZ is still being deducted (despite resident families having no access to it or to their possessions and pets) and expat premium discontinued if employee chooses to remain with family and work remotely via 8-10+ hrs time difference while also supporting kids remote learning at DAIS.

Are only spouses being allowed back, but not children who would be going to DAIS? What is the company doing for families that have to stay in the states?
