Thread regarding GE Aviation layoffs

Transparency really?

Leaders are coming out of wood work talking about transparency. Hey i get they want to claim transparency but this is just management speak at this point. Why not gives us a little bit of details that i know for a fact is known. For instance approx how much cost out is needed. Will their be volunteer layoff or retirement offers. Will it effect most hourly or salary. Will rooftops be included. After we get these general known details then be as transparent about what specific details are going to be as they are decided over next few months. This news before holidays will put a lot stress on employees already in stressful conditions. Say if employees new that thousands were going to get cut they could determine risk and act accordingly on major expenditures , healthcare and other life events like whether to start family. If management really cared they would be working long nights coming up with a strategy asap. See a lot decision makers can enjoy their job security over the holidays and wait until the new year. GE has made transparency a dirty word over the last few years. I am salary and have always worked hard even in bad times but from now on i will take ton of time off and produce little until management gives me specific details. So GE you broke me so maybe 18 months of doing the minimal.

Fact is that you don't announce cost cutting measures if you don't know how much cost cutting is needed. They have a forecast with certain cost out goals. They may not know the exact way to reach those goals but i think they have a good idea. But if employees are satisfied that management is being transparent then the more power to them. I am just concerned about timing and how little information was shared.

If you know for a fact why don’t you share those facts.

The "transparency" announcement about "extreme cost cutting measures" is for the Wall Street investment firms. The details that affect the employees will come out soon enough. When they do, Just think of it as some terrible nightmare that came and went. By the new year thousands of you will wake up one morning and forget GE was ever here.
