Corporate office in stores..

When I worked for the Dillards, the people in the corporate offices were required to work in the stores during the holiday season. They just basically stood around in the corner though. Well does require corporate staff to work in the stores too? I assume this would be New York or Ohio stores only...

We should not generalize, a few would act like it's a regular visit and tend to organize, require too much attention, and with "do this, do that" attitude, then stand to observe, plan and implement and be in the office comparing numbers between stores & districts. For those known to have a "corporate mind-set", it is the store manager's responsibility to assign them to specific areas and tasks.

Most really help associates and managers, bag, fold, fill-ins, stockroom search, set up for best sellers, etc. They are there to help, show them a positive, welcoming attitude, appreciate the assistance and they'll provide you the help you need.

I hate it when they come. Drop everything to do what they say. Store manager always backs them up. Another 2-3 hours added to our already 10+ hour shift to complete. Stay home and enjoy the parade and your turkey.

“They were always useless.”

You choose to see things from a negative prospective. I was always appreciative for any help on Black Friday, and took the opportunity to collaborate with home office members when assigned to my department. This year may not be as critical, but I don’t look forward to next year without them!

They were always useless. Walking into stires with oversized, overpriced, and useless information. All that money, time and talent (some) wasted. Guess no lessons learned. Play and look the part withiut an ounce of anything good and you'll get picked out if a crowd to run a department. This will continue to fizzle because of lack of strategy.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I used to work for corporate, for holiday we had the option to work in a local store and help with dressing rooms, bagging, etc, and provide updates to tech about any store system errors. We were not allowed to ring at a register. Otherwise we worked a weekend day or overnight shift in the office monitoring systems remotely. Now that our office is closed, our local stores will not get the extra attention they usually got over the holiday season.

I heard we are getting a corporate person to help on Friday (Fla)...I'm sure it willc be the same thing you mentioned. Can you see these high prices people ringing at a register or running a curbside oick up ? Nah...there speciality will be a cup of coffee and looking busy while on their cell phone.
