Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

WFH

WHF has been in many ways a disaster. Between the Shiite equipment and c-appy software, it is a wonder that anyone actually gets to claims. The worst part of this is that frontline management blames theses issues on the handlers.
If I wanted to be a software expert I would have applied for that job. This is just the tip of the ice berg of the issues at the Farm.
So, we worker bees get beat up about hardware/software issues not of our making, all while being remotely micro managed. What a cluster .....

Our leaders should put in place policy of mandatory vaccine for the safety of all of us. That is leadership

Looks like Austin, TX will be WFH even after Covid-19. I'd have to guess all the other locations that had the same fate are subject to the same treatment. Safe guess, no?

There were far too many not working when we were in office.
Management has all kinds of new workstation spy toys to catch the non workers.

“Far too many not fully working.”

Clearly must not be in Claims. We’re still working our asses off, whether at home or in the office. Anybody who’s not busy enough should have to come to the front line and get to work, if you dare. Nobody gets away with “not fully working” over here, trust me.

Until we get back to work we won’t realize productivity gains. Far too many not fully working.

Leadership is paying attention. People may get upset but span of control and expenses MUST be managed to compete.

IF leadership is paying attention WFH will be allowed to continue. gonna be a lot of upset people if forced to go back to the old way.

Don't think your HUB job is secure. Check the job postings most are for IT people and we are supposed to be an insurance company. So what do you think they are doing? My guess is to make the company more autonomous and reducing the demand for bodies to do the work.

WFH has gone much better then I thought it would. I've gone from a middle of the road injury CS, to a top producing one in the demand pool. Once I'm made to go back to the hub to those horrible cubicles, I'll back off on my production and settlements. The turn over pre-covid was 30% in the demand pool, not including all those going on extended leave for stress. If SF doesn't care if their handlers are happy, I'll stop caring about make the leadership look good.

The CEO was charged with RICO (organized crime) and there he sits. Why are you surprised that they might pull the rug out from under you?

WFH is the only good thing to come out of this pandemic. Sure, it gave the company a great opportunity to close all remaining LOCs at once without having to face the employees, and having the local press in the communities of the LOCs believing that they were closed because of the pandemic and that the employees will be working permanently from home. But that being said, if you are going to be hanging around till they tell you you are no longer needed, WFH is not a bad way to do it.

Why the sour grapes for people in the LOC's. e certainly didn't ask for this nor did we know it's coming. We also do not have any guarantee when we will be done. So it is somewhat of a bittersweet move on their part. Plus most all employees are working from home currently, so I don't get the attitude. They get to keep us going to use and abuse until they can train our replacements.

WFH has led me to be the happiest I’ve ever been with my job in Claims. There are occasional issues where Queue Manager freezes and I’m talking to someone, but they’re just occasional. I just log back on and carry on with it. Not a disaster at all.

I will say though that booting up and logging on is now taking an extra 2-3 minutes ever since they put all the extra Verint monitoring spy c-ap on my machine. This same c-ap might be why the computer freezes up more now for me too. Who knows really.

Do you also have trouble setting the clock on your microwave? The only people I know having issues are the ones who have a poor broadband connection. Nothing wrong with the equipment or the programs we use. I will continue to work from home until I am no longer able to.

Sorry but I disagree. WFH is a major factor for staying. And no, I'm not a koolaide drinking drone.
