Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is it possible that Amazon overtakes Walmart as America's largest retailer a lot sooner than expected?

Amazon is growing pretty fast and the lockdowns and Covid-19 restrictions have enabled it to accelerate its online retail activity faster than it would have otherwise. The following report outlines what's expected under normal conditions:

Any comments on this?

Walmart can’t compete with Amazon, period. The company is way to slow, political and inefficient.

Food and groceries are the only things they can compete at these days. Not a pretty picture for the next 10 years if you ask me

I hope so, I no longer shop at Walmart I go out of my way to stay out of the stores. I have deleted the App. I am a prime member and enjoy going to other stores.

Amazon's gonna hire 100,000 people for the holiday.

@2chx WM is toast against Amazon. It'll take a while but the slow decline of WM is happening right now before our eyes. WM sat idling while Amazon blew by them. WM went into panic mode and started slashing jobs and buying companies to try to compete. Cutting jobs does not lead to long term profitability. Short term, yes.

I was there at the HO and saw it happening. I have since left before that bullseye was painted onto my back and I was escorted off the premises. WM severely underpays their associates. This includes the HO. So do you really think they can hire the best to compete with Amazon? I'll consult the Magic 8-ball.... highly doubtful.

Amazon, hasn't won yet! Walmart can easily maintain its lead over Amazon, Walmart just has to get the technology right to overtake Amazon at it's own game - just to be clear Amazon does NOT have the best technology or the best tech people.

Yes, of course. That's why Amazon is pushing for higher taxes, lots more regulation, and open borders! All these policies will give them the advantages they need to leap ahead as they are not hindered by physical store locations and the associated regulator issues, they are totally besotted with the ability to bring in loads of cheap labor from India and China for their IT infrastructure and operations. The local American worker does not feature much in this equation, at least not for the higher skill level positions.
