Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Be prepared for the long game

I was laid off a while ago but still have good friends and contacts there. I've been telling everyone for months they need to get their resumes fired up and start looking. This pandemic is only going to get worse over the next 4 months. Companies, even though they need people, will put hiring 'on hold' due to this pandemic. Believe me, I've personally been through it earlier this year and the brakes were slammed on hard back in March because of it.

Be prepared for the long game. And you'll need to swallow your pride and take just about 'anything' to get through this stuff. Use your contacts to get hooked up because getting a job now is all online and it is awful. Truly an awful experience.

You don't deserve this. I didn't deserve it either. But I made it work. You can too. Good Luck.

A really good post from @pkq+17vQu9Ad, bumped so more folks could see it.

I worked at Hitachi Data Systems and departed shortly after the company name change. Let me tell you those 5 years were some of the most professionally painful years of my career. What's happening at Hitachi Vantara does not surprise me – what surprises me is it taking so long to get to this point.

If you survive this week, start looking in earnest. I was part of a reorg a year ago and this is just the beginning. There’ll be more layoffs every 4 months. Use your time wisely if you’re still employed. It’s a tough job market and don’t be foolish. Billable Pro Serv and HW consistent performers are probably safe but all the rest are disposable

It definitely is a horrid company and I’m so glad I left there a year ago.

Even worse, I’d heard years ago through the grapevine when Pentaho was first bought by Hitachi that this is exactly what the plan was all along. They got the spiffy software, no big deal just follow the five year plan and get rid of the people.

Only ones left will be the scumbag managers and the poor b–tards who haven’t been able to find anything better during a freaking pandemic.

"Hitachi Data Systems was on the decline prior to the name change. The birth of Hitachi Vantara took it into steeper decline. Not sure if it’s the Japanese leadership or US leaders to blame. They all failed us. This company is done. "

A very good question.. Anyone knows the answer?

New video - shifty eyes are back. No “trust me”, but GK looks nervous like he knows he’s gone too far, that he’s lost all trust, and is doomed.

Good thing he brought in CS who worked for Waste Managements. CS knows how to manage garbage! Now he can manage dumpsters fires!
