Thread regarding Husky Energy Inc. layoffs

Salary cut or layoffs?

Somebody mentioned that Husky could avoid laying people off by instituting a pay cut across the board, and it got me wondering if that's something people might prefer to layoffs? I know there are those who consider themselves safe, but I honestly think that's just wishful thinking on their part.

In this economy, I'd choose a pay cut (for as long as it's not drastic) to a possibility of losing my job any time.

The problem is the vast majority of the id–ts actually are protected through various networks. Kinda different these days but they keep making cuts and wonder why profitability drops instead of improving as intended.

Pay cuts just drive productivity into the dirt. Just cut those who are not productive, this is a business not a UBI daycare.

even in the even that I were safe, I'd gladly take a pay cut to protect someone else's job.

All speculation. They should better look at cutting the heavy top.

This is why people are hanging on to their jobs at Husky - golden handcuffs!

The longer they drag things on and the longer they take to make decisions, the more money hits their jeans.

Not too many organizations offer the same pay and benefits as Husky does.
