Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

RIP SAM Walton, you're company has gone down like the Titanic

I think it's very wrong and unfair to give a $4 an hour raise to 165,000 workers when there are over 2 million employees. I feel like it's them against us, we don't matter and they don't care. My hours have been cut 40 to 24, which is sending me rocketing to the poor house or even eviction court.

The pay raise went to fresh employees to bring them up to $15 and cake decorators to $16. According to the wire, they will no longer receive quarterly bonuses after this year. Long timers that made at least that did not get a raise.

Tell that to Alice Walton and the rest of the heirs to the fortune. They're doing great. Now those of us who actually work there? Not so much.

Its amazing to me that they announced this to everyone – employees and the outside press – and thought there would not be any animosity among the rest of the employees. Its almost like they are pitting us against each other on purpose. I won't continue to work for them after the first of the year – I have seen too much unethical garbage happening all through Covid. I won't shop there either. More folks need to do the same.
