Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Department Managers

Do any Department Managers know their fate with great workplace yet? Are any of you taking the severance package and if so how does that work? At my store there are 8 that want to take the severance and leave and more than half that want no part of the team lead position. Team lead jobs have already been posted on several facebook pages that specialize in filling job openings.

Damn yall still doing those evaluations. At Sams everyone gets a 2% raise . If you s— you get 2% and if you are the best worker there you get 2%. Theres really no incentive to do your best anymore, regardless you are getting 2% and with all leads going to 18 an hour and cashiers and cart associates going to 15 any hour and more raises to come were hearing after this year there will be no more bonuses.

@Misseditbyachipdickandthataintmuch! When has Walmart ever cared about their associates? Not since Mr. Sam died.

So basically team leads got a $4 an hour raise, lot more responsibility and more stress / health problems? And Walmart doesn’t care?

In response to a previous question asking if my evaluation was an overall 'Needs Improvement,' that would be no. I checked yesterday and my overall was 'Meets Expectations'. But since I had one area I needed improvement on a year ago, then it disqualified me for the team lead. Pretty sorry that they disqualify someone for one thing a year ago that they changed dramatically. Gives me a different look on it all now.

Several department managers are taking the severance package in my store. Some that wanted the team lead position did not get it. Lots of people upset mainly because of the lack of information that was given. There seems to be very little info about where the displaced managers will go and what hours they will be working. No info on any of the positions on the team.

Department Managers, Don’t you dare be sour. Clap for your management team, and feel the power! It’s a new day! Yes it is!

Do you have to leave on October 23 or can you choose to work until the end of January if you opt to take the severance package?

Was your overall yearly performance review a needs improvement or was it just on one of the three topics on the review?

Just read today that you can leave on oct 23 and still be eligible for severance but it will not pay out until 8 weeks after January 29, 2021

Our store manager started conversations today about who was going where with the team leads. I went in and was told that I was not eligible due to a Needs Improvement on last year's evaluation. The store manager was blindsided with this from corporate. Nothing was said about that until just now. That is the only thing that is standing in my way and there are no exceptions when she contacted corporate and asked. So I will remain a paper, pets and chemical dept manager for now and will know over the next few weeks what team associate position she plans on putting me in. I asked just for laughs, where was she plan on putting me and she said probably Front End TL. So from a consumables position to a front end is pretty drastic. It doesn't sound appealing anyways.

We will be told tomorrow which is funny because it's the store manager's day off. Unless our Store Lead (Co manager) does it.

Well, your store is a lot kinder than ours – notifications are next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – with implementation to start Saturday – this gives no one much time to digest anything. What a bunch of Corporate t–ds!

The chosen ones were asked Friday and were given a week to say yes or no.
