Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Media and entertainment - layoffs after reorg?

Will anything positive happen this year???? I could have guessed that there would be some reorganisation of Disney's media and entertainment businesses because people no longer go to theme parks or theatres.
Unfortunately, reorganising is just a fancy word for more layoffs and I guess every studio will go through deep job cuts. The only question is how deep will these cuts be?
I'm not expecting anything good to happen. Prepare your resumes and good luck everyone.

DTCI and Disney Streaming (DSS) will both be having layoffs soon due to the DMED reorg.

i have to believe that more layoffs are coming. Our new CEO is not shy about cutting staff. He even referenced it in his CNBC Closing Bell interview saying "Chapek said the reorganization could result in some reduction of staff, but not likely at the same scale as was seen at the company’s parks division last month."

I take that as a pretty clear indication that the layoffs are not done yet. Disney has long not been Walt's Disney anymore.

For now all other departments are probably okay. We'll see what happens the longer Disneyland is closed and what can be done about new releases and no theaters to watch them in.

But DTCI is probably safe for a while. Had the epidemic not hit I'd have been concerned only because they aren't/weren't supposed to really be making a profit for the first few years.

I wonder if that means cuts to all the contract work that the theme park teams outsource to other software/dev houses?
