Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Nobody is safe

I thought at least some of the more popular acts were safe in the long run, I guess I was wrong.

The Disneyland resort plans to lay off more than 200 actors as the “Frozen” and “Mickey and the Magical Map” live shows lower their curtains for good after yearslong runs while Disney’s Anaheim theme parks remain shuttered amid the pandemic.

It's all part of the plan. Bob Chapeck announced that the company's focus will be on direct-to-consumer. The stock price is now popping because investors are anticipating returns the company will have from Disney + (the next Netflix in their eyes trading at $500/share). Unfortunately for the parks, we are not the golden child bringing in loads of cash and will have to pay for it, The parks have entered the dark ages. Capital projects that are too far gone will continue, but it is on the backs of the 28K let go and any other services or expenses that could be cut. Walt's turning over in his grave...all this from the company that bears his name. The outreach from the Cast at the bottom of the food chain has been nothing short of amazing. Check out "Cast Food Pantry" and "Ear For Each Other" as two examples of help to the thousands who have have their lives turned upside down.
