keep dreaming Dean is dead and DFA are on life support! No way they keep every plant open
Zero
More closings!
Agree that consolidations/closings will happen, just don't see it by January 1.
Just hope that DFA has a better understanding of distribution costs then Dean Foods ever did.
Dean Foods way was:
- Consolidate 2 or 3 profitable plants into 1 and create 1 unprofitable plant due to greatly underestimating the increased cost of distribution.
And then later on it became
- Consolidate 2 or 3 unprofitable plants into 1 and create 1 really, really unprofitable plant due to greatly underestimating the increased cost of distribution.
Definitely see plants consolidating. Too many facilities for the amount of volume. Cheaper to fill plants to capacity and transport then work 4 days a week production. Union plants wiil go first.
Closings by January 1? None.
Unless we get announcements within the next couple of weeks.
WARN Act requires 60 days advanced notice.
Company can pay instead of giving notice, but no way that happens.
Layoffs/reductions that keep the number below WARN notification requirements?
Maybe. Would be tough considering how short staffed many plants already are but always a possibility.
