Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

Advertising

Is it me, or does Bass Pro have a problem with their Ads ? I have worked here for a little over
a year now, and it seems we never have enough ad goods, and sometimes don't get them at all.
We usually run out of product in the first day or so, but the ad runs for 2 weeks on average. I'm
sure Covid plays a role lately, but I noticed this last fall, well before all the shutdown stuff. Never noticed this at other Retailers that I have worked for, nor the places I personally shop. Makes me wonder if we having trouble paying our bills, or maybe it has always been this way. Strange.

The Spring Fishing Classic is everything that is wrong with Bass Pro now. The reel kiosk used to be crazy busy to the point they should have passed out numbers to customers waiting in line. Hardly any product and what is there in nothing like less than ten years ago. It is all about Club now, forget selling combos and crank baits. There has never been true leadership at my location; who hires these managers; what are the job requirements; most of them cannot make up a weekly work schedule. I trust no one above my pay grade; even the leads have been brain washed my management and some leads act like they have just as much authority and the store manager, how come?

It’s very unfortunate it has come to what it has. Losing knowledge with people leaving. Hiring kids who have no idea what they are doing. Everything and mean everything is about Club Card. Stock has been an issue for over twenty years for my store. There is no leadership what so ever. The morale of our store is at all time lows. Management is completely in left field. Everyone is doing multiple jobs. Communication is horrible. It’s so sad to watch the decline

One day of Merchandise, the next 18 days are always reserved for rainchecks. And now more recently, rainchecks must be prepaid ,LOL. You may be right about the Accounts Payable , or lack thereof, side of the Company. Somethings definitely wrong in Base Camp.

Sometimes I think the point is to blow through inventory that is t coded that they want to get rid of. They wouldn’t be restocking us because the goal is to sell through. Or we can just stick with the “agh the leaders are id–ts” blah blah

It's been that way for as long as I can remember, 20+ years anyway. Customer complaints abound.

They are sending us stuff we can not sell. Instead of concentrating on a few good and great products and giving us generous inventory, they are sending mediocre stuff by the pallet and it will not sell. The turnover is poor for it. And we are talking multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in inventory just in our department!

Sears does this all the time and has been for years. Look where it got them. Get out now while you still can.
