Complete outsider looking in and from previous layoffs at other employers, you are 99.9% safe in my opinion. I was the top performer on my team back in the 2009-2010 layoffs at a former employer. Managers had to schedule 1:1 meetings with all team members. All were 15 minutes. We had 13 people in our department. I was #8. Because so much bad was happening then, you had no clue. #1 - #7 were all laid off. I was in her office literally shaking. She asked what was wrong and I told her what I was expecting to happen. She laughed and said no. She said she set the meeting schedule the way she did so the people not affected would know. It wasn't bragging about being the top person on the team, but it was known. She said she expected the team remaining to recognize it as well so everyone would be at ease. I took the rest of the day off and went home because the mental stress was exhausting. Spent the day with my then 2yo and everything went to ease from there.
Believe me, it s—s. It is the reason I never went into management. I could never sit so emotionless and tell someone I am impacting their family.
you are safe but it sounds like your manager might not be
you are safe.
Remember what happens when you A– U ME?
I mean he can’t exactly just cancel the 1-1 now can he? That would be too obvious. So you can’t read anything into this.
I had a 1:1 scheduled on Monday that got rescheduled to tomorrow. Means I’m toast?
annnnd... you're not one of em
Yep. Your manager has tons of people to fire tomorrow.
