I have been a CSE for 11 years and never provided a customer facing configuration. We make our partners do them for 3 points and we get taken out to dinner. The job is a paid vacation with non stop con-calls that are pointless.

For most, they are comfortable s—ing the corporate teat and don't have in-demand skills required to move to another company. Careerists, not technologists.
