Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

What do you vets think about bbby hiring temps at higher wages than you make?

They ARE doing this, by thd way. even after chucking 2800 full timers.

Anc some remaining part timers are quitting over it.

Is it possible that nobody wants to work for MT at low wages?

I work in the corporate office I keep hearing from stores that, they don't have enough inventory on popular items.

They are not keeping track of customers onlinr returns. Customers are returning online purchases to the physical stores and stores are not processing them at all or processing them incorrectly. So online sales look good but in reality they are down.

Examples needed: Temps making more? Do you mean seasonal or temps from an agency? And what "proof" do you have? What companies have outsourced and then brought work back? Have you ever worked anywhere else? You do understand layoffs are not new in the world? Nor is outsourcing..yes it hurts more when it is your company but it is not unusual. And has anyone ever worked harder then the posters on this board? It seems like many if you think you are the hardest workers in the world.

Bottom line here is all the negativity is the culture that this company created over many years. They are just horrible with their own associates. Those who opt to stay can come on here and be negative and vent all they want, this is a board that legitimately has no rules on what to post about. If these people that are angry and venting don't move on to a better company well then they are fools. As for the outsourcing, yes so many companies have done it and even more have said oh c-ap, this is bad we need to stop it then revert back to in-house. Outsourcing a call center dealing with customers is one thing(not good BTW). Outsourcing a call center that is the backbone of IT to keep the stores up and running is a whole other story. If your store is down and after you wait on hold forever you get "Joe" on the line...well good luck with that.

Do you ever call your cell phone company? Ebay? Your cable company? A multitude of retailers? Those people answering with very poor English are not named Jennifer or David no matter what they say. Companies have been outsourcing overseas for years. No I do not agree with it but it has been going on for years. Not defending it at all..but the steps BBB have taken are the same steps other retailers have taken

"Just wait until the general public that somehow still shops here finds out they cut jobs to outsource them from another country."

Where have you been? It's been all over social media, news sites; forbes, usa today, yahoo news, etc. You may want to do some research before ranting up a storm here. Nobody in here is ok with jobs be lost. But the negativity coming from tenure employee is really getting out of control. We all get it by now!!! How many non related LAYOFF post do you have to post.

  • company isn't the same
  • overworked
  • looking for another job
  • been here forever
  • new employees quiting in mass

Cutting hours in stores. Giving associates double the work for the same or less pay. Yet eliminating Jobs in January and outsourcing them overseas. Who left at this company is OK with them paying people overseas while eliminating jobs? Why will they spend money like that but not in the core of the business and the hardworking people that they could have kept? This company is a joke and the people who still support it after all of this are a bunch of clowns. Just wait until the general public that somehow still shops here finds out they cut jobs to outsource them from another country.

"It is a layoff site, you think people are going to post nothing but sunshiny posts?"

Apparently disgruntled tenure employees need to have the last word. 🤡
So much hostility in this forum now a days. It's not about "sunshiny" posts. Just seems lately tenured employees have nothing better to do in their lives but to post how miserable they are at work.
I come here for the entertainment not the news anymore. 😂

  • 200 stores closing in 2 years. 60+ by years end.
  • More layoffs do to underperforming stores.
  • All employees overworked just like any other retail environment right now.
  • New dress code just around the corner
  • New employee work incentives/bonuses in the works

Lots of changes. Change is different sometimes for the best. Just breath, relax and watch the clown show express roll by.

Hey sow/see person..calm down a bit. To say other people's lives are unfulfilling is a bit much. I get fulfilled when word usage is correct. We are all entitled to our opinions. We are all entitled to good grammar. (BTW I am GM but not the poster who quoted me)

Excuse me, sow. What ever would we do without some petty person commmenting after us to correct our grammar? Thank goodness my life is not that unfulfilling. Why does it bother you so much for people that work for a corporation that found a forum to connect on and express their opinions? Yes we realize our time is done, the company is not what it was and I'm pretty sure EVERYONE is looking for a different job. It is a layoff site, you think people are going to post nothing but sunshiny posts? Get real. Hopefully you have found an outstanding career as an English professor.

"They can take away my posts but they cannot take away my proper grammar!" - William Wallace

This forum is starting to feel like disgruntled tenure employees that should just step down and find better opportunities elsewhere. Company is changing and I know I am looking.

No surprise there. BBB has no integrity, they don't care about their employees one bit. And yes I understand it is a business and about making money but you can do both,it is possible, you dont have to choose between treating your employees good or making a profit. I have been with the company over a decade and observed so much. I hate what it has become and yes I am looking for work elsewhere. The new hires complain more than ever. I think it's all pretty amusing to be honest. Reap what you sew.
