Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

How time flies. 2 years for Culp. What has he done?

Culp has been CEO for 2 years now and what has he done other than follow through on the divestitures that Flannery started?

LC's main job is righting the ship and on that I think he is doing well. Its a big ship so will take a long time to put on right track and also lot of junk that has to be thrown overboard also. The old GE was milked to death by Welch/Immelt and their goons and is never coming back.

With this latest announcement, Culp continues to peel the onion. Watch and learn.

He has sold profitable business units to pay off debt. He did what he had to do. The previous top executives milked the company to the extreme.

He is continually cutting internal cost and waste along with shedding units. But no "growth" to speak of. We may have to go beyond his tenure to get comfortable again. The world business environment will have to help us, too.

We have now a diversity organization. Big progress me thinks.

If you expect him to fix and bring a return of the Old GE back then you should be disappointed because that is what failed and put us in this position in the first place. If he is trying to bring back Old GE so we can continue with our old ways that make us comfortable, then I hope he fails. If his plans are, and I believe they are, to reinvent GE and start the whole place over to be a better and more successful fit for the future, then I hope he is successful. Those of you still holding onto the old ways will probably experience some pain, but you don't have much more time left until you retire. Us younger people have a lot more time ahead of us and speaking for myself, I have no interest of destroying all of it so you can have a few more comfortable years sitting around and milking the system. Sorry, not sorry.

Done nothing for investors. GE is a laughing stock of Wall Street. Failed to claw back bonuses from the former CEO and his deputies. BOD should be looking for his replacement.

All of you know that when Culp started with the company, it was a dumpster fire. After decades of what we could probably call mismanagement, it will take more than two years to fix it. I liked JF, but you can learn from his mistakes–no surprises. Culp knows this. All of the issues are on the table and he will methodically address them.

Excellent job? stock price is up / down / up / down. Nothing new from a business perspective. Nothing new for employees. Mass uncertainty. Trying to game the stock option game. I'd like to get in on that excellent job
