Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Frustrated

I have explained to several managers that we need help. This business cannot function with the minimal staffing they schedule. When you tell them they change the subject. Im tired of being yelled at by customers because you schedule one associate in a building. If you pride yourselves on the customer experience you have done a poor job.

If Belk cannot afford to schedule more peolle then theu should stop relying on customer service surveys. They're going to be c-appy because the stores are a mess and there arent enough people to do everything. If youre caught standing still for a minute someone's going to shove a TC 52 in your hand and tell you to start picking..our store is so messy its embarrassing and overwhelming.

WE are applying other places. Not a lot going on in my area. So many people out of work. I guess it's easy for people to tell others what to do. Not surprised.

If you have bills to pay then you need to be applying elsewhere now. Once Belk goes under it will be too late. WTF are you sitting around waiting for?

FYI Maybe you can afford to jump ship without another job but we all have bills to pay. Most of us can't quit until we have another job. Duh.

1) Management gets bonuses for unused hours. So they underschedule, then add on minimally as needed.

2) I know I don’t get paid enough to rah-rah teamwork and float this sinking ship. I’m all about teamwork as it applies during the day, but not as it applies to the company.

FYI, Belk does not have a great future. Just read the Forbes article. They aren't paying their vendors so how long before they aren't paying you? Jump ship, duh.

Exactly. It is becoming unbearable. Almost every customer goes off on the associate because they have waited so long or had to walk 3/4 of the store to find an associate to take care of them. The hard part is that the managers in my store just ignore it.

Associates are frustrated. How did this post turn into a one belk song? We are the ones in the store by ourselves left with complaints and customers getting mad at us. That is the point.

I 100 percent agree. They are doing the best they can and working as hard as I do. We have a great future as long as everyone works together as a team. That’s how it should always be at any job. Teamwork!

Sears has done this for years and look where it got them.

It's not the managers fault. Corporate gives them the hours budgeted that they can use to schedule associates. It's hard to work with such a tight budget but I know the managers want the same thing you do.
