Thread regarding Disney layoffs

DIsney Studio Operations (Burbank & Fox Lot)

There have been lots of murmurs this week regarding potential layoffs of those already furloughed on the studio operations side. Has anyone heard anything concrete? The waiting and lack of info from management is so stressing.

Disney is Moving a lot of jobs from Burbank and New York to the woodlands Texas. As a former fox employee at that location I wasn't offered a job with them and my current Fox assignment ends in 2021. They seem to be hiring young people without any experience in favor of keeping fox employees with years of experience. So this may be affecting studio operations some I don't know as I have been given the silent treatment by TWDC.

Take this with a grain of salt, but my leader called me yesterday and said the current layoffs were DPEP only and there weren’t any plans for layoffs currently in the group I’m in. So I get to stay on furlough and live to die another day.

Yes, the 28,000 that were laid off last week were all under Parks and Resorts. However, WDI has already experienced hundreds of layoffs (over 400 already). The Studio operation and Burbank Administration will certainly be the next round. Disney+ is the only operation that won’t see any separations, as it’s the only business making any real revenue now. Every other division will continue to see deep cuts and some businesses will be almost completely gutted - Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, Disney Stores, Disney Institute, parts of Disney Cruise Line, to name several. Many will take years and years to recover, if they ever do. Businesses will shutter completely. If the pandemic continues well into the new year (2021), as expected, the economic prediction is that there will be another round of significant Disney layoffs mid-2021 or shortly after.

I haven't heard anything about this at all. Reports indicate that the 28k affected are under the Parks, Experiences, and Products division and not crossing over into others.
