Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Widen your job search

Ride the wave while you can but look for other opportunities. As I found when I rifted the pay is lower when looking for other opportunities available. I would suggest going to small company compared to a global one. Pay would be the same. Techs are very talented and corporation don’t care but a small company will treat your talents better. Hell I applied for a job as appliance tech and was looked at like I was gold in their pocket. Same pay as other tech companies were going to start to pay me. But then those were big name companies with the same issues. I didn’t take the appliances repair job went with another more challenging but unfortunately got hurt and now on disability.
Anyway I did well in testing for becton dickinson tech but was overlook I assume due to age only 2 others passed and they were in their 20s. But look at some companies that build those machines you see in hospitals that dispenses what they nurse requested. Those guys with overtime are making over 100k in my area. Without overtime your still looking at 50-60k. Good luck

Good advice from @krg+17dLlvHH, made into a thread so more people could read it.

Haha had to laugh, I was told I apply for a manager position and I said I like what I’m doing now and don’t want to. They told me I would be good at it, my reply was I doubt it , I can’t lie like most mangers do. I rather help people. And I continued In support for anther 10 years. Before being riffed

This is a great post giving people hope. NCR pigeon holes you and demands more and more from your personal time and family. NCR people don't realize just how good they are until they move on. Management at NCR is no management or leadership at all. They're basically all a bunch of cowards and YES MEN scared for their jobs. I've only known 1 NCR manager in many years truly willing to go out on a limb for or mentor their people. The rest had a technical skill, became very good at it and were elevated to management with no training or experience on how to deal or work with people at all. Many to most have the personality of freeze dried mashed potatoes...... no flavor. NCR People .....You deserve better and it's out there so move on with a smile on your face knowing you and your family no longer have to deal with NCR any longer.

Thanks , I only widen my search as my mind set was stuck at financial retail, once I took a chance and reached outside my comfort zone did I get better results.
