Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

What are you people waiting on ? WALMART DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR years of SERVICE!

21 YEARS with the company and was fired this year - after taking a covid leave of absence - first time ever taking time off from work AND NOW I AM GLAD I DID

I was fired by the market human resource manager Jmills over the phone - Store Mgrs. at these stores in Houston are worthless - REgioun 6 - mkt 59 Da#L Tho%@as are freaking worthless leaders that don't have a back bone and the only way they lead is by INTIMIDATION.

There training says " You are working with the greatest company in the history of WORLD" but what they don't tell you is that Sam is dead and his ways went with him

Spent 21 years as a store manager Co. mgr. ASt. mgr. and left in Febuaray - took a leave - got paid for all 12 + plus weeks and some change 100% and during this time found another JOB that paid MORE doing less.

Now to hear all that was talked about when I was a store manager that every dept. sup. has This month of October to find a job or accept the severance pay ?

And the ASt. mgrs. have to do the same ?

So many posts have been made making each one of you aware !

Don't be scared to look for another job people they are out there.

The ones that just want collect a paycheck will remain at Walmart - those that are committed / hard working will find a job easily - but just like you dedicated your life to this worthless company walmart for years ? Companies are looking are for you !

Unfortunately for our store, one of the team leads was chosen because they are buddy/buddy with management. Trust me, it is showing. She does not check her on hands and alter numbers accordingly; she just scans everything as an out and starts fresh. Like THAT is supposed to help shrink how?... You can't tell her otherwise either. SHE knows what SHE is doing! SHE was the department manager of the deli area... (Rolls eyes)...

So many times I’ve Read these posts about the Houston Market that it makes me wonder how the company even is able to make money off the backs of dedicated workers and then throw their hard work / their commitment aside like yesterday’s trash.

The family life of a Walmart manager is very lavish but only if your a store manager and above. The assistant / coach managers and below have to sacrifice and lower their morales to ki$$ holes to be accepted so that they can keep their job.

The H. O. Really has know clue to daily operations of daily business inside the stores.

Once upon a time the HO office would go unannounced and show up to these Houston stores. BUT NOW they announce it. The Mkt manager sends teams to those stores to prep them up - they send basically an ARMY over to slap LIPSTICK ON A PIG so they can get the kudos of achievement. When that’s over ? Your back into the same boat trying to make a living.

Get out when you can !

After years of service I realized that the company no longer was returning my loyalty. I was making too much and had too much PTO. When the nit-picking coachings started, I hit the door. It was the best move I ever made. I sincerely hope that those who choose to make the leap realize that there is a better life available out there if they're willing to make the leap.

Everyone gets this brain washed idea that “ I made it “ “ I’m the lead” “ I’m a coach”

Just to hear that the ki$$ as$ of the bunches got better positions !

Corporate used to tour - bus tours - etc and now they have these young book smart A holes running your life !

Wrong again. We just had talks with some of our Department Managers who do not wish to do to team lead and they do not wish to go to the floor. Our MHRM has spoken to them about their Severance. They can stay until Jan 2021 or take Severance around the last of October. Just sit back and watch. You will see in a few weeks who is right and who isn't. The person claiming to be a SM is a total id–t. He is obviously not a SM.

I don't think this last post is accurate. Anyone not selected for Team Lead will be offered a position out on the floor – and their pay is protected for one year. If after a year they have not moved on to a different position – or elsewhere, they will go down in pay – but no more than 10%. The reason for all of this is so Corporate does not have to pay out severance – no one is being forced out of their jobs with no place to go (except some ASM's – and there is no severance for them either).

Wrong again Mr Store Manager. I have read the tool kit from front to back. Department Managers are offered severance if not chosen. You are an id–t. And your right the toolkit is locked to only SM. But mine SM gladly signed in and let off of his Salary managers read it, further more the toolkit was printed not and put in a huge binder for us to refer to. So yeah I have read it . Severance is offered to Department Managers who are not selected.....id–t. LOL

Your store mgr may not be a douchebag and neither am i.....read faq.....you do NOT get severance as described in policy.
YOU have not read toolkit unless you are SM like me because user ID protected.....your store mgr not a douchebag but YOU ARE!

The only thing this company is worried about is beating Amazon. They already lost to Costco because walmart failed to be a leader and only copied Costcos ideas albeit half-assed and on the cheap. So now the home office lackeys will run over anything and everybody to achieve a certain goal. Don't invest 100 percent for they aren't either.

You remain an associate til end of Jan with pay. Then if you don’t find a job within the company you can take severance. If you find a job with lower pay rate your old pay is protected til October 23rd 2021.

Wrong again. If a Department Manager is not selected then they will be offered severance. I read the tool kit my self. Our store manager is not a douchebag so he has already talked to ones who want to retire and out of respect they will not be chosen so they can get severance. You all need to read the information provided.

You remain associate through October next year as a worker still and that is your "severance " you have till then to find/apply for another job

Again, you lost your position for a reason. Nine of the Gold badges at my store are in the so called chopping block. People like you just make up stuff to try and get people to stir the rumor pot. Only 2 out of 13 Gold Badges has decided to take severance. They requested it, they decided this was the right time to retire for them. The other 11 will have Team Lead jobs. Your store must be a dump. Mine is not. We don't kiss but where we are from. We do our jobs and yes there is bumps in the road and we get called out for them, sometimes it's an unfair call out but big deal. We just keep going.

The only reason you got your position was becuase you where ki$$ing someones bu__! while being a store manager for them I understood very quickly that Store Mgrs. and above maybe limited to certain details / information of the upcoming changes but non the less THEY knew well ahead of time what was coming.

I stopped playing the political game for them after terminating so many worthless managers that they didn't have the managerial courage to do so. As soon as I stopped ki$$ing but my head was on the chopping block.

Ageism ! Capped out pay ! Gold badges ! Are all on the chopping blocks right now and their core values that the company was built on is out the window!

Majority of the comments on this site are not just rumors they are the facts and it's a shame to not everyone speaks up against them like they should - sheep among the masses / brain washed that theres no other work besides them !

I don't believe a word of this post. You got displaced and did not get choosen for a store lead position. You are blaming it on a LOA but in reality you did not get the position for a reason. I have been with Walmart 15 years. I have been an. ASM for 8 years. I got chosen for a Coach position because I deserved it, 3 others in my store did not. They did not deserve it bottom line.
