With today’s announcement there is only one way this will end.
Our fate is sealed as a factory.

Posts deleted so the truth touched a nerve, says all you need to know about the guy who they commented on but no names mentioned. Caravan of love again for the the two of them but they have to know all respect is gone with the constant BS.
Totally agree Stan.
Promoted via incompetent intent.
I doubt the change will be remotely ground breaking. More like installing a new sales manager (god help him/her)
There is some mild amusement with the fact that the person in question will be responsible for all that stock he’s influenced over the world over a 3 year period which is now gathering some form of rework. No doubt this accumulation of stock will be sold off below manufactured cost. And hailing a sales as a success. Who in their right mind would support this activity. Whilst the product manager sits back failing to be a cog in the wheel.
The whole back office structure needs to be reworked. It’s not worked for a long time. Sadly it’s too late.
If your a long term employee hang in there. Short term employee bail out. There are plenty opportunities outside NOV.
Gateshead is saved, new structure with the best sales manager (former plant manager, planning manger and a few other manger roles until we find one that fits) in a new position because his mate has strings. Holding off until the worker bee's get binned off but please someone tell me this is correct, skeletor in HR won't help boys. Write everything down, record if possible and let's show this absolute misuse of power to allow unbiased people to look at it and open tribunals. It's the only way to get those accountable.
Management exhaust so many man hours that what should be an automatic process. Not only their time but other managers time and their reports.
This is a waste. For example. Say our overhead is £70 per hr per person x goods in x manufacturing x inspection x despatch x 2 people per department ( delegation) that’s 8 x £70 = £560 for a single item minimum.
I give to you an improvement model to work with.
Essentially we are haemorrhaging £560 minimum per singular item
This is a rough costing. Though close to the truth.
This is not a sustainable, progressive model that still lives and thrives within Gateshead.
Management there aren’t bright enough to have any plan whatsoever .new manager is the worst one we’ve ever had .another Stanley lad .thats why the place is sinking full of inbreeds
Quick business plan for those who call themselves the saviour of Gateshead
Anything that is not definitive within API should be either moved to another location. Or subject to third party locally. In the control of NOV AVL
Painting can be very easily moved locally. This will reduce operating and labour cost in terms of bonus. Rates of pay. Pension and healthcare contributions
Fabrication as per above but sourced either in the Middle East. Their labour and overheads are operationally beneficial
Potentially Expand into simple sub sea or renewable energy and grow from their. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Or. Gateshead becomes an API or managed product centre of excellence. Which is very risky considering Shell and BP are slowly pulling the plug on fossil fuels
There will be redundancies hopefully the above will point management in the right direction and keeping the facility open for the future.
Reference point was 12 months ago for a down turn.
Management didn’t see it but were advised. Well before the oil crash and COVID
Please explain yourselves.
More people in office positions that shop floor.
This only strikes me the office staff have no grip on material supply, how to plan, sales mucking about, eng more interested in detail of everything else except engineering. QA well no comment.
It’s a wonder an API/ISO audit is actually passed.
Would only take simple a tip off. Boom gone.
Well all the Stanley lads will be safe .thats how the factory has went downhill mates looking after mates and letting skilled men go .whole place is corrupt to the core
Would that be the Stanley shuffler by any chance? Talks like Harry Kane but makes no sense with his talks as unable to read. Dog sh–.
Rumour in the club is a new office structure is to be announced, no jobs lost. More office staff than people producing late products that cost more than competitors. What could go wrong? Imagine if they actually made people with no qualifications or not time served out of the fitting section redundant but that won't happen because those clowns will be scoring actual talent, section leader is a labourer! Place is a joke.
Another week ahead.
Make this the start of not looking a manager in the eye. It’s what they deserve
The weakest and most unproductive resources in a business is management. Particularly the Scottish director and his management reports.
As demonstrated over the years in the case is Gateshead
I will hold no respect from them in the future.
Thanks for being unsupportive loyalty to the future. This is nothing to do with a pandemic or oil price. It’s all about failure.
yeh but as long as KT has time to be ringing local radio stations for competitions during working hours and sitting waiting for a reply well everything must be running smoothly in planning, yes?
Embarrassing i would say, whilst workers out on the floor are panicking about their jobs.
Such a shame this happening again especially the way things are in the world today hope they let all the people go who volunteer to save the jobs of others who want to stay sad times
You’re right the STAFF in the office are unskilled and unqualified.
Management at Gateshead failed those who are at risk. Pure and simple.
Yet they keep their positions.
History repeating itself again when closure was announced some years back. Don’t think we will survive this one.
Management of Gateshead should hold their heads in shame. Plenty opportunity to turn it around and diversify into other industries and opportunities. But no.
Example. There is a company not far away who have diversified still in the industry of oil and gas. These guys have systems in place and the management style to look forward.
Gateshead and NOV operate as if it’s 1980. We are light years behind any competition.
Looks like it now
