Has anyone heard this one? Shanker hasn’t said either way.

Dave M was online today, or at least his PC was. But his OOO says he's gone. Best of luck to you Dave wherever you land.

I wonder who else you would receive auto messages back from that we don’t know are already gone....

Maybe there is truth to this. I just emailed Big Dave with a question and got a very surprising auto message that he is no longer with Xerox. The guy who setup the entire Cary office, possibly got canned. Are we all next?

@3fnp+17dIyWQd It’s a tactic HP has used in the past. Keep moving locations and offering people to keep their jobs if they move. It’s a great way to get rid of older EEs who have a life in the community they are currently Living in. Yes webster would be cheaper. They called Webster the manufacturing center of competency because they have too much money invested in those chem labs and manufacturing space.

"How many people are currently working at the Cary site"

Yeah, I've been wondering that myself. With all the news and promotion in the last year or more, I've been thinking how many jobs actually made it there? How many people transferred from other locations, how many were newly hired from outside Xerox?

Of course the pandemic made this worse, but I never understood why we would want to open yet another site when we have a ton of real estate in Webster and elsewhere. I can't imagine there are any labor savings by going to Cary vs Webster, if anything Webster should be less expensive as we don't have the competition of the research triangle.

How many people are currently working at the Cary site? (Actually working, not "assigned" to Cary but working remote)

I recall when the nerve centers were introduced in a Shankar town hall that webster people were all like “but that won’t affect us”. We now see how it has been used to force staff reduction without layoff and to also justify layoffs. Now XRX has realized that to avoid lawsuit by offering relocation that they actually had to relocate people. It’s been HP history to regularly change work location on employees to force voluntary exit. Most of the current Xerox execs are HP washouts who are proud to state their “achievement” such a staff reductions. It’s plausible to assume that a new work location far from NC will be proposed to drive further voluntary exits to save money. I don’t know about closure of Cary until after the NC governor leaves or figures out how to justify the failure of Xerox to bring 50, let alone 500 promised jobs. The Wipro deal to take on all IT even mgmt would definitely limit the number of people at Cary further.

Could be true. Such a big innovation hub. There’s only about 20 people currently in the Cary office.

What about all the Webster IT mgmt staff that moved to Cary?

I Hurd that they are replacing all IT including oversight and governance with Wipro, as part of a larger deal to get rid of HCL. This is a plank of The Shanker vision and is being encouraged by Steve B due to lost shine on HCL related to the ongoing XBS fiasco. If true (is just rumor at this point to me, LOL), there would be little need for IT to exist anywhere in USA, especially Cary since it is barely operating today and the layout makes an exit deal easy. Wipro can find their own US facility or attempt to operate from India.

Uh, what? Why would that be closed when all the innovative stuff is supposed to come from there? I don't know what actually goes on in Cary, as I've always been in Webster.
