Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

And another Cheif Officer on board at BBB..

Monday the Bed Bath and beyond named Anu Gupta as its chief strategy and transformation officer, effective Oct. 5. Gupta is a former TARGET executive, where she headed up its strategy execution and operational excellence initiatives. She will be stepping down from her role as chief operating officer of Jyve Corporation, which specializes in retailing optimization and
As Bed Bath & Beyond's strategy and transformation officer, Gupta will help oversee the shift that calls for new product deployment, a reduction in unnecessary goods in stores, and the implementation of technologies that will help strengthen Bed Bath & Beyond's omnichannel presence. Other newly named executives are also responsible for more focused aspects of the turnaround plan.

Makes you wonder why they terminated so many employees, and closing stores..
I'm sure all the new Executive' s are making $$ , lets hope it gets better at BBB

Why don’t we take down all the signs in front and call ourselves Target II....we’re hiring a lot of executives from them!

"Company is shifting from stores to online, never a good sign."
Don't tell Best Buy that. 👀 Has worked for them the last decade. 🤔🤷🏽‍♂️

"Target and Walmart are the only retail stores that will last the test of time."
Target was in the same boat years ago. So was Best Buy and Home Depot.
You may want to do some research before making a blanket statement like that. No retail will last the test a time. Look at JCP and macy's. Retail is not a career. New companies always pop up.

You can't compare BBB to Target, customer service is a huge part for BBB and now that is going away which is bad. Target and Walmart are the only retail stores that will last the test of time.

Considering Target is doing amazing because of those people, gives me hope. I work at Target and the processes in place are great for efficiency and the technology and employee services are great too. They need that stuff at bbb!

"Not sure how they will turn around their online store bc i hear a lot of complaints about not getting their orders and customer service is no help. "
In a few weeks more stores are coming fulfillment stores. Goal is half the stores will become fulfillment stores ultimately all stores.

This actually isn’t a new position. They are replacing someone who had the same role.

Yeah this just seems like another move towards really downsizing the in store presence altogether and management pushing for copious amounts of Beyond Store Orders.

Not at the store level. this means less inventory in stores. They are going to makes stores smaller so less items don't make the store look empty. Company is shifting from stores to online, never a good sign.
