Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

It is not yours to know the times.... however, Just one more thing... (Jesus / Colombo)

When does "IT" occur? Here are some facts: RTX MUST clear the books by end of year; given that the WARN act requires 60 calendar days of notice or 60 days of compensation that means the latest is end of October; seems some VPs are having All Hand meetings on Thursday so that's most likely the all clear address; since no news on Monday; its gotta happen on Tuesday and / or Wednesday.

Or the meetings can be a flow down from a vision a senior executive experienced after viewing the morning's activity before the flush.

The WARN act is fluid during the pandemic and protections expire 10/1. Bromberg announced commercial reductions in an all hands at the end of June. Nobody in this forum has facts or a clue as to who or when

Absolutely.

And Pratt & Whitney's larger facilities are in areas that are limited in other job opportunities for salaried employees:

*Columbus, GA
*Lansing, MI
*Oklahoma City, OK
*West Palm Beach, FL
*East Hartford, CT
*Middletown, CT

"There is life after PW."

Not for everyone. It completely depends on where your skills lie and where you live.

Yes, the leadership could handle this lay-off news better, but on balance PW is a business not a person.

The company pays well, treats people fairly for the most part, offers a decent 401K, insurance, tuition re-imbursement, sick pay, and vacation pay. Plus the work is not that hard.

Lay off, downsizing, right sizing, whatever the accepted term is today, happens in all industries all the time. Best thing to do is count your blessings, and don't fret over this. There is life after PW.

While I feel pretty secure in my current position, I'm still looking to leave. Not because of the market or the need for layoffs. That can happen to even the best of companies. I'm leaving because of how management has handled this. This company has no soul or care for it's people. No wonder we can no longer produce an engine that follows through on its promises.

I agree. I’m sure people who haven’t thought of leaving before are now considering it given the lack of communication and unknowns.

One thing they should keep in mind as they leave people in the dark wondering. Some of the good employees they don't want to lose will find another job because they are sick of the BS. I have seen it before, twice
