Am I the only one that sees the blatant age discrimination? I have interviewed for over 10 roles this year alone with no success. When I go back to check the org chart, the job was given to someone half my age. Why post experience or degree when it’s an image thing you’re looking for?

at 45 you need to pack your luggage at Pepsico , when you are still there at 50 you are either dismissed or you are the best favorite of your manager and then exceptionally you might stay
I got past up by aboot 5 campus hires and then I Got passed up by a fricken psr for an sdl role and back to another guy from a grocery store. I can't catch a break and i know its because i tell them like it is.
The lamest excuse I got for not getting a pathetic level 4 role was because I didn’t answer some questions in STAR format. But she concluded the interview went excellent otherwise.
It is unbelievable how dishonest the leadership is and it is left totally unchecked. All the stories from the Directors that they didn’t know who was being terminated until it happened. Turns out that was all BS. Directors had to sign off on terminations 60 days prior to said legal could align and Severance Agreements could be prepared, reviewed and approved. PepsiCo cannot legally leave terminations to random selection. Word is Directors were to remove all negative employees and older employees representing a higher cost burden. Shameful.
So much chatter about age discrimination. Where are the facts? Does anyone have anything tangible? Is there a statistic, case reference, any kinda proof at all? I would agree and I am a casualty myself but there is nothing available that would stand up in a legal argument.
It’s an inside joke at FLNA for someone of a certain age to interview. Former L11 employee.
If the 70 rule is true then i am bound to be gone very soon as i am over 100
I am ex-Pepsi but saw this repeatedly, a person that is now a CxO said in a meeting, "why would we invest (in this person) as they are over 40. Funny thing is now, this person is well over 40 so karma is a b–ch...
I Botox and use fillers ( voluma) so no one knows my real age. Problem arises when hiring managers see my real age on the HR Portal. Is there a way for them not to see the year you were born?
I was advised by my 'Resume consultant' to avoid age-related details in my resume.
Like year of graduation from college, etc.
Even to shave off some early jobs if it looks like you've been out there more than 20 years.
Of course - once they see the hair dye running down my temples and the putty in my wrinkles - it won't matter.
Who made the stupid comment about the Speak Up Line? That’s a death sentence. Wanna get let go quick, use the Speak Up line. It’s only used to protect PepsiCo against legal suits.
Yep age discrimination has been rampant in the tech business for decades and nothing will be done about it. Lawyers got around this 50 years ago. You get laid off and get a bonus if you sign all your rights away. Simple. Ain't capitalism great.
voice your opinions fearlessly and call the speak up line.
This is why PepsiCo uses the 70 RULE: Add your age to your years of service. The closer it gets to 70 the more likely it is you will get caught up in the layoff.
Prevalent since the 90's and starts earlier with every passing year. Latest discrimination now being seen is tied to race and gender. Regardless of political party in power nothing has ever been done about it.
