They own us now and is the biggest joke of a company I have ever seen here in Le Mars. We are getting run into the ground. Working 6 days a week while other plants barely crack 40. How fair is that??
Sick and tired of these companies treating us like trolls and warm bodies.
This employee committee here in Le Mars is weak and soft as well. Too scared and got pushed over by Deans for years. Now with KEMPS. They just turned into YES boys and afraid to represent us.
To be fair to Le Mars, that description describes a majority of the former Dean Foods plants.
All were once successful but Dean Foods cost cutting and attempts to standardize everything that were led by MBAs who didn't know a damn thing about what it takes to produce and deliver dairy products got us to where we are at the plant level.
First plant manager I worked for could be a real a–hole who had no tolerance for screw ups. But he was respected because he started at the bottom and worked his way up and knew every job in the plant- couldn't BS him about why things went wrong if they did because he knew the jobs and processes inside and out. He expected his supervisors to have close to the same level of knowledge as him for the areas that they supervised. Now supervisors and managers are a–holes but don't know any of the jobs in plant and don't care to learn- not what they're paid to do they'll tell you.
This plant here in Le Mars is nothing more than a local dairy full of incompetent gluttens who feel entilted like the world should owe them something for not being a part of Wells anymore. I’ve been here almost 27 years now an it’s a far cry from the powerhouse of the Midwest it used to be.
Place is full of crybabies who don’t want to work but want all the money and glory. Any new hire is someone who is weak minded or weak skills. Guys here in the cooler quit after 2 days of pushing crates like mules. No one under 25 wants to lift a finger around here in culture room either.
The culture department years ago used to run like a fine tuned machine until they lost some real good operators and a good supervisor. You could literally walk back there some days and could hardly find a curd on the floors during production.
Same for the fluid areas. Used to be spotless. And great people. Now the whole place is going downhill FAST!!!

The LeMars milk plant is for those employees that have neither the skill nor the ability to be hired into one of Wells ice cream plants in town.
Always been that way.
But I thought LeMars could do the work of 6 plants in less than 40 hours and still have time to spare?
Volume goes where labor and distribution costs are the lowest. Nothing to do with being fair.
Maybe.
But you still have to live in LeMars.
