Is this bonus PTO after christmas, a prep for some end-year layoffs?
Or its just a sneaky way to give 'something' to the employees without an immediate impact on the cash flow?

I’m Thankful for our former teammates who either retired early or were laid off and reduced the headcount /salaries.
There is only one thing I would like to say in regards to this extra time off to Sean and Sean W. Thanks very much, it is appreciated
The teams that are left to keep the business units running till the worst of the Lockdowns pass, should be rewarded for their dedicated effort. We know we are lucky to still have jobs, regardless of being called upon to do the work of 3 people and not say anything. Our Management had to make the hard decisions of who to keep and make sure the company comes out strong on the other side. Many of the former teammembers have already found better positions outside of Sabre so they are better off now, because we who are still here do not know what the future really holds for us at Sabre.
It seems some locations do not consider paying those PTO days as holidays to employees who are made to work on that week. Thay are adivising them to take some PTO next year in exchange. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of taking the holidays week off?
OMG - the guy was asking about the meaning hidden between those additional free days at end of the year and you are disputing the names. Wtf? Read, then write.
TBH - If not the pandemic it would look like a preparation for 'cleaning some of the desks', but now when almost everyone works remote i does not make any sense.
I rather see it as a way of rewarding the overworked team, without a need to explain it to the investors.
Just wonder if all the commited timelines can be moved by a week right now 😁...
Was shared at the SED Talk last week. End-of-year break, Dec 25 to Jan 1, time does not count against PTO. Talk to you mgr.
What bonus PTO? I didn't see any HR email about any bonus PTO. What are you talking about?
It’s not bonus PTO, it’s additional holidays. And not everyone gets to take it, I’ve heard global ops teams must work.
What bonus PTO, can someone explain?
Not sure there's any 'sneak' involved. Most people are doing the work of multiple people and that isn't going to change soon.
It was a good gift but nothing comes for free. We shall see what 2021 holds
Some people can (in their own heads), turn even the most positive news into something negative. Most of us simply viewed this as unexpected good news. To each his own, I guess.
