Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

More Job offers still to come?

Will Chevron be making any job offers to people who were either let go or for Noble people who were put on a long term transition periods of four to eight months? Any thoughts or insights appreciated.

I would move on. Things are a mess at Chevron right now and the morale is very low. There has to be better places out there.

Yes, there’s more job offers to come, but not at this company. Go find work elsewhere.

We could be at war next month and see $100 oil or continue the current scenario for ten years. Nobody knows.

Typically it is only 18 months from the drop to the next upswing, but this time it might be longer due to the pandemic. I would not rule out another round of cuts mid to late next year. Oil demand should be rising late 2021, but there is a huge inventory worldwide that needs to be drained before we get the traditional “wow I should be drilling” awakening ... my guess in 2022 earliest.

Are you Chevron or Noble?

@wsk, You may be in the small number of employees who were designated to be laid off, but only to skew the demographics metrics that were initially published then, with planned intent, was called and offered a job. I’ve deduced this through having seen it happen in all Chevron layoffs in the last 10 years. It’s done by design to lessen the obviousness of age, race, and gender discrimination. It’s fixing the appearance of the results.

I was let go then came back in a better role. So it's not the "sad truth" at all.

There will be more cuts, with Covid cases I creasing and the new administration possibly locking down the country, the oil price will nosedive.

Chevron won’t be making any job offers to anyone that was “let go”. It’s the sad truth.
