Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Just got Severance taxed at 30%??!!

I just received my Severance check stub and I see it in my bank to be deposited tomorrow. It was taxed at 30.3%. I was not expecting anywhere near that, this is quite a bit less than I was thinking it would be.

you think 26% or 30% is bad....wait until you do your taxes.

I am expecting a total tax of 29.65%, as follows:

  1. 22% for Federal Income Tax withholding, like a bonus,
  2. 6.20% for Social Security,
  3. 1.45% for Medicare.

I will check the stub when I get it.

no surprise here. It was mentioned in other posts prior to this one. I expected this to be taxed just like the bonus we got in December every year. I didn't get my pay stub yet and my bank isn't showing me tomorrow's deposit but I expect it to be 30% .
