I don't want to minimize what happened to so many people yesterday, but I have to ask if this means that somebody got the date wrong and instead of November 18, these were the layoffs we were expecting? Or was this the first round and we can expect another next week?

Upper Mgt probably realized the word was out and started early. Who really knows ? If they spare you for the holidays I would expect the next round in their outsourcing scheme to restart in January with employees and first level managers that are no longer needed. Many of them are already in jeopardy because they have too few Full Time Regular Employees or are not ideally located to manage their people. We'll see I suppose. If you're still working for NCR I suggest a backup plan like getting your resume out.
