Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Remember when Barnes & Noble was a household name?

Now we've turned into a joke nobody even mentions anymore when discussing major players in the business. I wonder what happened with the planned reorganization that was supposed to make us into a "great bookseller" once again? The only thing we're great at right now is hemorrhaging sales.

I agree with this post. After being a longtime employee, and getting shafted by BN, there's no way in h**l I will ever shop there again. Also, my very large family will not set foot in the store. So, they not only lost my sales, but, by extension, family members who were actively buying books in the store. It all adds up.

**Most of us have stopped shopping there. We have rediscovered the library. I would rather shop at an independent bookstore or order from Amazon. The only reason why I would ever go into a Barnes & Noble is to make a list of all the books that I want to read. As a recently laid of employee I would never give them a dime.

Fewer and fewer people are reading books. Look how newspapers are doing.
There is no way it will survive on its own.

Not during this pandemic. With all the stores closed. Do your homework.

To the person writing about devices. Physical books have outsold ebooks for the past 6+ years.

Well, when you consider people are reading their devices more than anything on paper now.
And I mean, devices other than that laughable Nook! The smartest people were laid off it seems and they have the last laugh!

It was once a prestigious job. But nowLike you said, it’s now a joke. Sad. The Riggios were once giants on NY. Now, Len had to buy his way into the Columbus Parade.
