Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Shoplifting

The shoplifting at my store is SO bad, I feel like it would be more efficient if we're just unloaded trucks into the parking lot instead of moving merchandise around 5 times. If I lock up merchandise, that hurts our sales. But if I put everything out, my racks will be completely EMPTY in a matter of days with zero profit. And we can't get an in house AP or VSOs. They still complain about inventory and deficit numbers... 🤷‍♀️ Can't wait to see how much walks out the door for Black Friday.

There is no insurance from the theft of any Macys product. It would be impossible to even cover an organization that way. You sir are completely misguided. Any retail business has theft, that in turn is reported as Shortage (shrink). There is no insurance or kick back for any items stolen from any Macys store.

Lol! I am proud that you all cate about theft but the company don’t. Because they claim their theft every year and they get paid back for. A few of you might know this. But, the reality is that we care about it we follow or CS the thieves and at the end of the day get ourselves in trouble or danger.
Why do you all think they pulled all the AP. (Yes, it’s Covid time) .
Macys claims it back with full price not sale price through insurance. Macys don’t care if you stop a thief and get in trouble. That’s why they stop you to not do anything even a thief tells you they are stealing because #1 you are not LP #2 care about your life not theft , so what does it tells you!!!
I have given you all of my opinion it’s upto you now to think vigilantly

Dyson vacuum cleaners and Vitamix's get walked right out the door. Alarms go off half the time and when they do, its such a common thing, no one does anything.

I think it’s interesting that you’ll find our stolen goods right “Market Place” on FB. Right there with the sellers photo! You know it’s stolen when they offer a large size range of Tommy coats and Polo fleeces! We actually compared a photo of what this one person was selling in our city to a photo of the fixture it was stolen from... One coat was kept behind. Just curious how FB doesn’t monitor this. A friend of mind made a comment on the sellers post asking what Macy’s was this stolen from and FB blocked HER not the seller for a week!

We had someone come in the shoe stockroom and take out 3 pair of Uggs...we first thought it was a new person from fullfillment. Nope it was just a shoplifter when they walked out the door..

Soooo... Just ask in’... Does your shoplifters at your location just take suitcases from the luggage dept. and load up? I’m gobsmacked by the brass balls of them. They’ll look you square in the face and saunter out... What ever happened to the good ol’ days when shoplifters ran out with 1 item???

Theft is outrageous. Literally the thieves are filling bags in front of our colleagues and just walking out every night. We actually have a full AP staff but they are powerless. I used to get regular AP rewards for calls. This is no longer the case.

At my store they set up a huge cosmetic display 7 ft from the door. That is working out, not.

Theft has been on the increase for years and there has been nothing done about it.
Just like riots- look the other way.

It will only get worse- yes it can get worse. Take it from a seasoned professional.

Why wait for black Friday? Hell, start your holiday stealing early. Beat the crowds, get the best selection. Yesterday I was the ONLY person covering the ENTIRE floor of my store for the first 3-plus hours we were open. No one called out- this was actually the schedule. Like other retailers, Macys needs to close all fitting rooms. We don't have the staff to keep an eye on them let alone maintain them with regard to the "safety guidelines" that we tell the public about but are not able to actually do.
Speaking of safety: We know customers are removing their masks in the fitting rooms, we can hear them coughing and sneezing away in there, and according to the CDC, the aerosols, which are larger than the "droplets" remain in the air for HOURS- especially indoors and in a contained space (like a fitting room stall). And then we are expected to go in there and retrieve the piles of clothes left inside-out on the floor and rehang it all.
Of course, all the theft is not happening in the fitting rooms, but at least it's a start. I guess on a positive note, all of these bad company decisions will make for a quick and easy inventory count in January.
