As I walked into work today, I was informed by an ASM and a DS (I’m also a DS) that any talk about the election even just asking if you watched the news last night is to be stopped and “treat it like union talk” this is no skewed towards one candidate or another but we are to pretend that there is no election no news regarding it and if you discuss it you will be sent home without pay, apparently there was a PowerPoint sent to SM’s and ASMs regarding handling the election and how to “control” talk about it in your store. I understand this election isn’t over and I understand the emotions and strong feelings people have but this is the USA for crying out loud. Telling people they cannot talk about the most basic democratic principles of how our country is structured and to treat it as “union talk” which in Lowe’sland is pretty much akin to Satan worship I find a bit appalling.

The "employees" who whine and run down unions don't have the guts to stand up for fair wages and decent benefits. They cower in the corner before the fight has even begun. Go ahead with your" aw shucks, Iza takin'what theys-a-givin cause I'm working for a livin". Spineless chicken-sh–s.
It’s ridiculous but this isn’t uncommon though. I worked for Walmart and Verizon before coming to Lowe’s and, If I remember correctly, politics, was one of the many subjects considered to be non HR appropriate. I specifically remember it at Verizon because during orientation the HR team led the most boring dry 2 hr presentation just about inappropriate conversations.
Wait till they have to start boarding up window. See if their is any election talk then.
Lowe's hardened anti-unionism has folks at my store actually researching what union might be best.
