Left Standing with 3-Month Transition Assignment? Likelihood of permanent role?

The 3-month transition role looks to be temporary in nature, but wondering what are chances the unfilled positions will be reposted? I'm well-qualified for some of the roles not filled, and I'm very technical. I consistently ranked 2+ or 1.

You should ask HR if they will let you participate in the spring PDC. You never know!

If you are over 50 (more so 55+) and also in a PSG 23 or higher position, you stand a strong chance of being laid off. If all the above applies and you are a white male, you’re 99% assured to be a dead man walking.

I have 1’s and am left standing, but am over 50. Will take severance and move on.

They don't really need technical people. Management just does not want to admit that. Maybe, more correctly, can't afford too many technical people. This is all about living for today, not tomorrow. They are desperate to ride out this oil s**tshow economy before they have to reconsider their dividend. COVID is about to get a lot worse because of rallies/election/winter. That is going really mess everything up and if oil price basically stays where it's at. Then Chevron will be trimming the bushes again next spring.

If you are 80 and a good performer then it is extremely unlikely you are getting 1s. By this time, you would be in a high enough PSG that make 1s nearly impossible.

My past ratings were 3 "1" and 1 "2" and I was left standing. I am over 55 though. So your rating is not necessarily guaranteeing you a job. Good luck though..

OP: what do you expect posting on a lay-off site. The answer is that temporary assignments to stall left standing are rare enough that there is a good chance you were handed this to find more time for them to define for you a permanent position. If oil move up toward $50 there is a high probability you will find a slot but if it drops in the near term your life will be more precarious. Good luck!

All these responses to my original question were pretty unfruitful. Basically everyone just calls me a liar. Thanks anyway.

I'm not 80. I'm under 50. You don't have to believe me, but it's true. I am of a minority class and maybe all the diversity talk was just that...talk (legal cover). I'm truly baffled as to how they would let me go with such a need for technical people.

EOI accepted with a 3 month transition role.

Why would you want a permanent role after they treat you like the ugly step child?

Unless you are 80+, no one can explain why you would be left standing with a cluster 1 rating. In 80+ case you may be needed to mentor your replacement for next 3 months before retiring.

84 actually, what difference does that make?

You must be 80 years old.

I don’t believe you either. 1’s don’t get left standing. They will make a position out of thin air rather than just letting a 1 go.
