Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

A customer shows at a register...

I have a question for front-end people. A customer shows at a register with a large cart. He does not have an actual credit/debit card but has a picture of a card on his phone.

What is the proper thing to do? (I want to see how many side with me and how many with one of my ASMs).

Former Co Manager in texas here, the answer is no it should not be accepted, with one possible exception.
There is a particular type of card that walmart will issue to an organization (in my experience usually churches, or organizations dealing with foster care) where it is acceptable for them to present a photocopy or picture of the card along with further documentation verifying they are part of the program or organization. I apologize but I forget the proper name of the card. The policies pertaining to the use of it are buried in the old financial policies on the wire, I have never seen them updated into the newer OBW policies, but they are still valid.

If your ASM let this person purchase the items, I would call the Ethics Hotline and report them. They are either too stupid to be in charge or are running a scam with friends,

It absolutely doesn’t make sense. If I go into a Ferrari dealer with a picture of a billion dollars, are they going to let me drive off the lot without any paperwork or proof of funds?!!

Why is this even a discussion?

Why is this even a question? So someone steals a card or takes a picture of a card and puts it on a phone and you think this is O.K? Common sense says that it isn't.
I can take a picture of a customers card in a restaurant I work in and put it on my phone or I can even sell the picture on the dark web and many people can buy things until the card is cancelled.

I mean if they were smart they woulda made an account on the Walmart app and added it to Walmart pay. But I wouldn't be telling them that cause that's sketchy af

Hi, I work at Barnes & Noble and I was wondering if someone could check the comments on our page and tell me if your company is better than ours. I don't want to go through the same thing again.
Thanks

For the same reason no credit cards are accepted over the phone, no physical card, no transaction....NO EXCEPTIONS!!

I am a FE Coach and I say no to anything that does not swipe or read when you insert the chip. Only exception I’ll make here are EBT cards. We enter them manually if they won’t but still have the physical card in front of us.

If it leaves any kind of a question mark in the pit of your stomach – the answer is no. Pretty certain it has to be a physical card – unless it is an electronic gift card from Walmart (which will have a bar code you can scan).

I'd say no. Period.

This could be a copy of a stolen card, right?
