June went by and there was not even a word of our 100 year old birthday as the company that Armand Hammer founded. VH was able to destroy decades of improvement and a financially solid balance sheet in a matter of a year. Nepotism, Apache mafia, drainage of VSP talent and the raising of WON all over the company structure. We are the laughing stocks of the industry thanks to her poor decision making. There is NO plan to rescue the company. Instead we get "Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging" training. Write comments here what you miss the most of the good old times. I can't believe we were once a sought after company to work for, sad.

Oxy has way too many people. A lay-off should definitely happen soon to reduce SG&A.
I don't think that the "diversity, inclusion" stuff is the problem. That's just a sign of the times. I think the way VH has been running the company is a problem. The constant reorgs, the inefficient appropriation of people to value-adding positions, and the culture that has come to rest on politics and WHO you know not WHAT you know is the problem. I regularly have seen managers relying less on what their direct reports bring to the table and caring more and more about what upper management expects to hear. It's a shift to making sure not to step on anyone's toes. The Anadarko merger just helped magnify the organizational issues that has come to head at Oxy.
I am a 2019 retiree and I can tell you it was a great company under the leadership of Chazen. It was an admired company by people in the industry and the investment community. That is not the case today. Very sad, mourning over the loss of something that provided so many talented people so much.
Sh–ty company with a leader who constantly tells lies and distorts the truth - Disgruntled LAPC
It could be that Oxy has functioned for many years on relationships between people and not on organizational systems. Over the past 5-10 years the people relationships have been broken because employees have left or retired. Now you are stuck with having to put together a new structure in these tough times with new people from two companies. It is a difficult task.
2004 to 2011 were the times where accountability, team work, mature adults supporting each other, helping others achieve their potential and a welcoming work environment with good compensation.
Now, nothing but petulant bullies looking to stab each other in the back and persecute anyone they think is an acceptable target. No value, no accountability, hypocrisy and hate at every corner.
International projects in IOR/EOR were once a specialty that Oxy was known for. At some point it stopped being a focus.
