Someone please explain to me how thirty minute lunch breaks helps associates out? I've heard that its to preserve hours, but logically it makes no sense.

Yeah. It's nuts. By mid November the store will be open until 9 pm. So this company takes the only time we can decompress from dealing with the customers and cuts it half so we get more hours. They used to schedule me 9 hours and I'd get the hour lunch. I think they're just doing this to keep people on the floor instead of customers searching around for an open register, which they're still going to do anyway. They just want to keep us working but they flipped it to make it sound like we're getting this great benefit.
belk is in its final stages of existence. early next year liquidation will begin. First you will see all the top level executives dropping like flies, then smaller stores will close, followed by medium doors....and you see the pattern. Sears and Belk are mirror images of each other and this is looking like by mid 2021 it could be a nasty train wreck. and loosing the director of e-commerce and web design a short time ago just put the icing on the cake.
So you are supposed to take a 30 minute lunch when you are scheduled 8.5 hours. That's nuts.
