Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

PRIORITIES

In these challenging times it's important to focus on the important things. We need to get our overtime quotas in! Throw out any ideas you might have about work/life balance - we need to ensure that our managers get their year-end bonuses! Thank you for all your hard work and remember, there will be punitive actions for those who don't cooperate!

It's cool. Most of us just sit around for most of the ot anyway. Free money. Management doesn't seem to care either so whatever

Sometimes a year-end push like this for billable hours isnt so much to bring in cash (which they would just be stealing from the next quarter) but to get overhead rates down. The government customers are kinda OK with this because if the rates stay low they can get more hours. But in the end it all comes out about the same with the added result of burned-out employees who didn't get to take their vacation hours over the holidays.

SLC is working the OT. traditionally prior to the merger L3 for decades worked what was called the "cash push". the intent is to get "billable hours" on the books to charge the customers. This then was used to give upper management huge bonuses. Every year this cash push starts earlier, lasts longer and until last year required non engineers to work the OT for free. Each year has had varied amounts of time required. Each year there is little to no work load justification and in fact work levels are lower than most other times of the year. Thus the employees have to pad or stretch the jobs they have to cover the time they have to be there. The customer gets s—er punched twice and this goes against all their highly advertised core values, is unethical and dishonest. The returns are advertised as "really great" and then after the bonuses are paid out just before the employees are to be evaluated for possible raises, the bottom falls out and the returns are horrible so we always get minimum below cost of living increases (max 3%). This is a disgusting and despicable way to run a business and treat people. I wonder of the customers knew....

Build products? For what? Most locations are SEVERAL YEARS IN BACKLOG to ship to customers and are still taking purchase orders from them and holding daily calls as to why they cannot get them their products. It's one big game that management is playing to get orders 'on the books' so that they get their bonus checks. Highly unethical in my opinion.

Is this one of those situations where there's a mad rush to build products in order to invoice the customer (ie $$$) before the end of the year?

On the other hand, I've heard of places (not necessarily L3H) where they want everyone who has a direct charge number to work like hell til the end of the year... and anyone who is on overhead to stay home and charge leave.
