Protective order

Does being part of a protective order insulate you from being let go?

No, not a preservation order, or a protective order will protect you. A "Bonded Job" does offer some protection but while there are a few out there, it's not a large number.

It’s called a preservation order.

If you’re referring to a protective order with regards to not being able to discuss certain investigations within the company, where company lawyers send out a semi-annual or annual notice to remind you to keep your mouth shut, the answer is no. A lot of people who’ve been with the company a significant amount of time are part of a protective order, if not multiple.

Just like there are laws to protect voter rights to vote. Every thing can be challenged. It depends on who has power, lawyers and money.

For every measure, there’s a countermeasure. It’s seen at Chevron as well as most every other place. Our laws are written specifically to protect everyone against age discrimination, religion, race, orientation, etc. But every entity has clever ways and processes to circumvent the “letter of the law”. So, all these nice words are only that.... words.

They certainly got rid of a lot of people due to age which I suppose is equivalent to higher salary. Read into it how you want.

Chevron is an at will employee. Which means they can get rid of you for almost any reason. The only exception to this is federally protected classifications, in other words they cannot get rid of you due to age, religion, s-x or s-xual orientation.
