Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Everyone deserves better, so keep in mind this advice

This is perfectly stated:

I agree there was no dignity on how we were laid off. There was no time to say good-bye, no time to grab some email addresses or phone numbers. Two minutes after my zoom termination, my laptop locked up, another minute later and my RJ email disappeared on my phone along with most of my contacts and calendar which was all linked. It took me many days to get the numbers and emails of those I wanted to stay in touch with. Two that I did not get were for my immediate manager and the manager above which were the two that termed me. After over 10 years I thought I deserved a little better than this. I hope all that are still at RJ and reading these posts remember. Remember to never keep your sick time as a large number since you lose it when you are termed, try to get your vacation up to a years worth so that when it is your turn to be let go you will have some extra pay. Don’t count on anyone, don’t volunteer for anything, don’t empower yourself to go above and beyond, keep your blinders on, stare straight ahead and do only what you are directed to do, don’t think, it does no good.

I feel exactly the same way and your advice is probably one of the best, @1mwt+17FQqfZd.
Maybe it will help someone so I copied it into a new thread, I hope you won’t mind.

I will tell you that you are being monitored at RJ. This is coming from someone that was in a prominent position at one time.

With the most recent layoffs, I know it can be difficult. However, I will tell you in the long run you will be better off not being employed by Raymond James. This company has been in decline with its leadership for years now. This all occurred years ago as a generation that cared about people retired.

Now, RJ is being run mostly by people that care for only their self-interest and preservation. Raymond James is a toxic environment to work in. Being in a position of seeing the background of a lot of the advisors they hire, I will tell you their practice is one of calculating monetary fines and the overall profit they can generate. They hire some really shady people and are willing to risk a smaller fine with the possibility of a larger profit.

The C-suite executives at Raymond James will continue to line their pockets. They will not risk the money they make to do the right thing. Raymond James will layoff hundreds if not thousands in the future and still show a good profit at the end of the year in order for high executives to hit their yearly bonus.

Employees are expendable at Raymond James in order to turn a profit. Unfortunately, this profit is not to just keep everyday people employed, but it is to line the pockets of the elite in the organization.

It will be difficult but trust me when I tell you things will be better without working at Raymond James.

I spoke to a couple people over the weekend and there is paralysis at RJ right now. A great deal of knowledge (not only technical but also institutional) was lost on 9/15. RJ will survive but it will be very painful for some.

my friends still at RJ have stopped communicating personnel stuff thru RJ's messenger system and email. Everything is now a text message on their phones. Someone how says he knows someone "in the know" was told that all messages are constantly being scanned with certain key words and if there is a hit then someone goes and reviews it. Be very careful with what you say. It may come back to haunt you.

I’m still at RJ. I’ve been with RJ when the last layoff occurred. This one is weighing heavily on regular employees. People used to have conversations using lync but not much anymore. My phone gets many text msgs now to keep thing private. I wish I could delete RJ email off my phone. I feel we are being monitored.
