Severance delayed

My final day after my 60 day was mid September. I know it can take up to 60 days from your final day to receive severance. However for sh–ts and giggles I called HR to see if they had a status of my severance payout. The obviously stressed and not so charming gal, before even getting my info to check apologized for any delay but that the volumes of severance payouts are extremely high (you think?) and due to recent layoffs there are less people handling and processing those at the moment.

Isn't it ironic....the department that handles severance payments for laid off works are they themselves struggling and behind...due to their layoffs. SMH...

By law, they have to get them out within 60 days of your termination date so they'll need to get it to you by mid-November latest. They'd better pick up the pace; there are people depending on these payments to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads.
