Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

why does Macys wait?

I notice when someone who works there does something bad the big dump waits months to fire the person... like i have known about people who did stuff like gave friends discounts and such and macys would let them work thru xmas and then fired that person 2 days before xmas.. why not just do it sooner and get someone else in there?

Well the person I’m talking about was a assistant loss prevention manager who would blame everyone in the store of stealing but was stealing himself as well as the rest of his team. Someone notice it and called corporate and few weeks go by and the break up the entire team into different locations. This person and other still work for the company . I should point out the location this person was put into is a mall that is going under rapidly.

And even better question is....why do you care
Go to work and go home stop worrying about other people's business, its none of yours

Okay, here is another scenario: Years ago, I worked for another company (not retail) and a manager was competent, but was a s-xual predator. Women who worked under him knew it and made HR aware- even with audio-taped recordings of conversations that took place in his office (he was unaware). But like most pigs-in-power (no slight to actual swine), this behavior NEVER took place in the presence of other people (witnesses) . So, these s-xual predators get promoted and/or passed on to another location to end the immediate problem. The complainer ultimately gets let-go (not immediately of course, because that would be too obvious, even for HR) and the Predator moves on to new prey. The reason this works this way is because if the Pig was to get fired for s-xual harassment, he would be able to fight the claim in court, and this is a difficult case to prove (He said/She said). In addition, HR is forbidden to tell the Pig's future employer of his accused disgusting conduct because without a legitimate legal trial in which he is convicted, the Pig can then sue his former company for defamation, because he was never "convicted" of said bad behavior. The Me Too movement may have moved the dial on these scenarios, but, to answer your question, this may have been why the person in question was promoted and moved out.
Of course, the person you mentioned could just have been a total screw-up and as we've seen, often the best solution for Macy's is to "promote and pass the (incompetent) buck" to another unsuspecting location.

Ok. My other question is why would they promote the person of interest then move them to another store ?

Often times the reason there is a delay in action is so there can be a thorough investigation of the facts. This includes getting that person on video tape breaking the rules, getting a computer printout from the cash register, complete with time-stamp to correspond with the time-stamp on the video tape and most importantly, to make sure that the person in question is acting alone and not in tandem with other co-workers. The company wants to make sure it has all of its ducks -in-a-row before it looks at a possible liable lawsuit. It's pretty straight forward corporate behavior.
