This company has turned into politics. It’s not what you know it’s how you spin and sell BS. It’s all about telling lies and smiling.

Don't drag all engineers down with you. A lot of them got the jobs they wanted. It's not just education, its education and willing to work. Just hanging on a degree that your dad paid for, doesn't cut the mustard.

Bdy - sounds like someone hit a nerve. HR maybe? Well, Buddy, we all know you’re probably one of the d-bags that are making the decisions.

Glad to see popcorn guy is back saying absolutely nothing, as per normal.

OP - One would suppose that a degreed engineer (sorry I didn't use caps, there,.. no disrespect intended) might use the proper grammar. I presume you meant "beWARE"? That's okay, Bunky,... you probably just slept through your classes. And, anyway,... you got a degree, right? You MUST be smart!

My masters degree from a good school and strong program don't matter at Chevron, where those who went to some no-name undergraduate school and/or got their degree online are considered "leadership potential". Before you come at me in the comments, I'm not referring to those in Operations who have worked their way up. My problem is with those in support functions like Finance, HR and IT - functions that should be looking for good education and credentials.

Almost everything that is actually done at Chevron is done by others. Engineers ask the vendors to drill the wells, lawyers ask the outside counsel to try the lawsuits or give real advice, and accountants have outside accounting firms solve the problems! As a college graduate, you come in sharp and ready to work, but you leave with a head of mush...

@ffp: Right!? They strip the engineer title from actual engineers and bestow upon a non engineer. Huh? Umm ok.

Company had way too many engineers to begin with. Need more people from actual field ops who have worked process unit or fields who know how things really work in charge and making decisions.

By engineers, do you mean the glorified administrators the company creates? There be no engineering, just paper package creation.
